In recent days Senator John McCain has charged that Senator Barack Obama “would rather lose a war in order to win a political campaign,” tarred him as “Dr. No” on energy policy and run advertisements calling him responsible for high gas prices.
The old happy warrior side of Mr. McCain has been eclipsed a bit lately by a much more aggressive, and more negative, Mr. McCain who hammers Mr. Obama repeatedly on policy differences, experience and trustworthiness.

In Berlin this week, Barack Obama capped his European tour with an address to an audience whose numbers reached tens of thousands. But while the media will focus on Obama’s call to strengthen America’s trans-Atlantic alliance with France and Germany, no doubt lost in the coverage will be John McCain’s essential role in undermining it. As it turns out, back in 2003 John McCain stood shoulder to shoulder with the Berlin-bashers and Paris-hating purveyors of “freedom fries” and “old Europe.”

Coming off of a week in which he made several notable gaffes and was overshadowed by his rival’s trip overseas, Sen. John McCain was undoubtedly hoping for a page-turner during his appearance on This Week with George Stephanopoulos.
But early reviews aren’t very promising. Appearing from his ranch in Arizona, the Senator made cloudy, debatable statements on a wide-range of topics, in the process providing fodder for his Democratic critics.
To us, he just sounds like a broken record- “I am for the values that two parent families represent…..”
